Starting Off Slowly

This year has not started off as I thought it would have. I’ve spent the vast majority of 2018 being ill. Not the typical flu bug, but getting ill from a medication that I had full trust in the doctor to give me. I’m still getting over this and I feel much better. It will however take some time to recuperate.

I am going to spend my time sitting and crocheting as I feel up to it. I need massive amounts of sleep, probable best for now to let my body heal. I had wanted to write more in this blog and have gotten side tracked…derailed as it were.

Be that as it may, while I am resting and sleeping, I can let my “imagination” run wild! pexels-photo-279470.jpeg

My Word For 2018

Imagination”

There is nothing like imagination. The word comes into play in just about everything we do or say. Just think about it. Imagination. When you imagine different scenarios for a situation, you use your imagination. I know that I use my imagination when I try to come up with a pattern for my crochet work. Different patterns and stitches that I have used throughout my life are definitely thought about. So I have to use my imagination when I crochet a new pattern. I might use a little of one pattern and then switch over to another completely different pattern for another row. Or, I might combine the two stitches for the pattern and come up with a whole new stitch.

That’s what is so lovely about crochet work. I bet that you never thought of it as using your imagination have you? That is what all of us crafters, artisans and writers use every day…our imagination. It’s a wonderful thing.

Don’t waste it. The next time something pops into your head, you might think that it’s silly. Trust me, sometimes the sillier an idea is, the better it is. Write it down in a notebook, you can call it your Imagination book, or a scrap of paper if you wish and hold on to it. The next time you are trying to come up with something, go to your notebook of imagination and take a look. You might be pleasantly surprised at what your imagination has thought of.

Imagination is a wonderful thing. I personally love this song from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Gene Wilder did a beautiful job.

How Do You Know

How do you know?

How do you know when it is real or just a dream?

When you are running as fast as you can and still you hear it chasing you

so you run faster.

If it’s a dream, then why do you feel that little breeze

across your cheek like you are being softly touched as they passed you?

Why do you feel the fingers of fear running up and down your spine if

it is just a dream?

The sweat is running down your face soaking your shirt, you sit on the curb for just

a minute to collect your thoughts when you see a shadow in the street light.

The shadow moves toward you slowly at first then it picks up speed so you

get up and start running again.

You notice that the sky is getting lighter. It will be dawn soon, but that doesn’t stop

the shadow. It keeps coming.

All of a sudden you recognize your street and soon you see your house. You

run up the steps and unlock your door as quickly as you can. You are safe inside.

When you awaken, you lay there to collect your thoughts. Then you remember

your dream. Sitting up on the side of the bed, you see your running shoes, your

shirt is thrown across the chair.

Getting up, you check your shoes and they are wet and muddy and your shirt

is soaked. You gather them up to throw in the wash and out of the corner

of your eye, you see a shadow move quickly across the room.

Was it real, or just a dream? How do you know?

Where Did I Go Wrong

Like a bolt of lightening

Has struck my heart

Not knowing where or when

I should have tried harder

Tried a different type of

Discipline when small

Where did I go wrong

When young it was so easy

To correct and address wrong doing

As a teen you start seeing problems

Wondering how to get their attention

To get them moving in the right direction

Chastisement is a joke as you see

Their eyes glaze over and you know

That they are not listening so you stop

Where did I go wrong

Calls come in the middle of the night now

No longer can he resist he needs help

But the calls come not to talk or ask advice

Just calling for money or getting out of trouble

It’s the norm these days and just like that

They cease to exist and leave no trace

Where did I go wrong with my love
