A Stick And Some String
I wonder how the idea of crochet came about
Did they try and try and fail and pout
Makes you wonder how they came to ponder
that one would even try to conjure
Why they would persist at anything
With a little stick and some string
I can’t crochet a blanket
and leave it half done.
What good would it be
to leave it half done?
You couldn’t use it
only being half done.
A blanket for charity is no
charity at all when its half done.
How can it keep someone warm
if its only half done.
I can’t do it. Not me. I’m not a
half done kind of person.
It’s all or nothing for me
I don’t do things half done.
I really need some new dish cloths. So after some pondering, it took quite some time to convince myself that it would be alright for me to take some time off and make something Just For Me.
You see, I’m not used to doing that. I am usually busy making things for others that it doesn’t even cross my mind to make something for myself. I figured that I make dish cloths so quickly that I really could take some time for me. And you know what? It feels good. Besides that, I’ve been wanting to try this new yarn organizer that my sister got me for Christmas. It keeps the balls from becoming tangled or rolling across the floor. I have to tell you Tracy (sister), I Love It!!! Thank you, Thank you.
I didn’t get into my cotton yarn bin for these colors. These were easy to get to. If you saw my stash, you would understand my dilemma on getting to my cotton bin. Oh dear 😦
That is going to be my project for another day. It gives me a headache just thinking about it! LOL Well friends, it’s time to show you some photos of the dishcloth that I am making and of the colors that I picked for the others. I figured that three cloths would be enough for now.
I’ll show you the end product. It won’t take too long for me to finish these. Then I have to figure out what I’m going to start on next. Everything I make is…
What a great way to start off the new year. I got a pleasant surprise the other day by email.
I made a Christmas afghan a couple of years ago that got auctioned off for charity. Well, the person that won it sent me an email. They said how much they enjoyed the afghan and that they had gotten many compliments on it. They also said that I should make more of them.
Afghan I made for charity.
To say that I was overjoyed is an understatement. I know that my plans for crocheting more for charity this year is a good one and a plan that I will keep. It makes me feel good to know that people really do appreciate good work.
I was thinking about all of the different color combinations that I could choose from and I thought about two or three different blues and white. The possibilities are endless.
The email that I got has made me realize another thing. How very important it is to think of others. That you are keeping someone warm or making a security blanket for a child. Or just the simple fact that you care enough about someone and I have been blessed to see the smile and joy on a child’s face when they get a blanket. That is enough for me to keep on doing this thing that I have been doing for years and years. The smiles of appreciation. Oh yeah, that will do it for me.
Who knows what today will bring. I’ve gotten up a lot earlier than usual, which is odd. I’m drinking my first cup of coffee for the day. It’s delicious by the way. I’ve gotten peppermint mocha coffee creamer. Oh Yummy! I may have more than my usual 2 cups!!
But, I must digress and get on with my post, and please let me know what you think. I have some need of your input.
I started on this project a few days ago. I’m making a scarf and I’m using Debbie Bliss Milano which is just beautiful to work with. I’m even thinking about putting on some beads for a little bit of flash. I just can’t decide which ones yet. Usually when I want to add beads to something I just crochet them into the project, however, I actually didn’t decide on the beads until this morning. I do know that I don’t want them throughout the whole scarf. More around the ends would be to my liking. This isn’t a winter scarf, it’s more of an every day scarf, it’s light weight and would go with just about anything. I’m making it long enough that you could wrap it several different ways.
I’ve taken a few photos of the project.
The flash went off in the first photo. The actual color is in-between the photos. The middle one is one of the different beads I have to choose from. This last photo is a closeup shot of the beads. Hmmm…decisions decisions. The beads on the top are glass beads which are very pretty. The grey beads on the left and then the wooden beads on the right.
Who knows, I may finish this scarf yet. Then I have to choose some colors for my next project. A giant Granny Square! I just love making granny squares. I may even start the giant granny today. It wouldn’t be the first time that I have more than one project on a hook!
